Undergraduate advising

Pre-major advising in the College of Communications and Information Studies is under the jurisdiction of the Office of Student Services. When students are admitted to the upper-division of the college, they are assigned a faculty advisor from their major program.

Freshman students in Journalism, Integrated Strategic Communication, Media Arts & Studies, and Communication are advised by Tasha Cotter. Students with 30 or more earned hours are advised by Cathy Hunt and Emily Sallee. To make an appointment, see below.

Advisors are not available to meet with students outside of the college during the priority registration period (October-November and March-April). If you are thinking about switching your major, please be proactive and schedule a meeting well in advance of your registration date.
