Janice Birdwhistell

Janice Birdwhistell has been the College alumni and development officer since May 1999. Janice is also responsible for coordinating the content and publication of the School of Journalism and Telecommunications Alum Newsletter and helping with alumni events. With an extensive background in marketing, promotion, association management, event planning and public relations, Janice has served on the UK Staff Senate, the Annual Giving Task Force, UK National Alumni Association Board of Directors, the President’s Outreach and Extension Program Committee, the UK Alumni Association External Review Committee as well as numerous community Boards. She currently serves on the UK Communicators Committee. Birdwhistell has served as deputy commissioner of the Kentucky Department of Travel Development; marketing director for the Kentucky Horse Park; director of tourism for the Greater Lexington Convention and Visitors Bureau; industry and government relations director for the National Tour Association and director of constituent services for Kentucky's Sixth Congressional District from 1993 to 1999.
