New Appointments for Stephanie Reynolds 
In June 2011, Dr. Stephanie Reynolds presented to CATALYST (Collaboration Among Teachers and Librarians Yielding Successful Teaching), a 6-hour workshop with School Library Media Specialists. Party of the Ohio Valley Educational Cooperative (OVEC), Reynolds was invited to present, and received funding from IMLS, the Institute of Museum and Library Services.

Bishop Receives Summer Faculty Research Fellowship
Dr. Bradley Wade Bishop received the Regular Summer Faculty Research Fellowship to study location-based questions asked at UK Libraries in order to determine the typical questions asked to inform an application to assist students with FAQ around campus, such as finding a class, locating parking, or knowing the operational hours of different student services. Since joining SLIS in August 2010, Dr. Bishop has published journal articles in Government Information Quarterly, the Journal of the American Society for Information Science and Technology (JASIST), LIBRES, The Reference Librarian, Library Hi Tech, School Libraries Worldwide, Public Libraries, and a book chapter in Public Libraries and the Internet: Roles, Perspectives, and Implications.
Huber Appointed to Lexington Public Library's Advisory Board
Mayor Newberry has appointed Jeff Huber to serve on Lexington Public Library's Advisory Board. The appointment is effective January 2011 and spans a two year term. Members of the Advisory Board work in conjunction with members of the Board of Trustees to assist Lexington Public Library's Executive Director in providing direction for the library.
Dr. Jeffrey T. Huber is Director and Professor, School of Library and Information Science, University of Kentucky. He earned his MSLS from the University of Kentucky and his PhD from the University of Pittsburgh. In addition, he completed a post-doctoral research fellowship in medical informatics at the University of Pittsburgh. His research interests include health information outreach and health literacy programming targeting marginalized or underserved populations.
Reynolds Appointed to YALSA Selection Committee
Dr. Stephanie Reynolds has been appointed to the selection committee for YALSA's 2nd Past-President's Lecture, which will be presented at the 2012 ALA Midwinter meeting. Dr. Reynolds is an Associate Professor in the School of Library and Information Science at the University of Kentucky, and is the organizer for the annual McConnell Conference on Youth Literature. YALSA is the Young Adult Library Services Association.
New Faculty at UK SLIS
The University of Kentucky School of Library and Information Science is pleased to welcome Wade Bishop and Jeff Naidoo as new faculty members beginning 2010-2011.
Wade Bishop joined the UK SLIS faculty August 2010 as an Assistant Professor. He earned a Ph.D. in Information Studies from Florida State University, an M.A. in Library and Information Science from the University of South Florida, and a B.S. in Marketing with a minor in English from the University of Florida. Wade brings practical experience in public education, archives, and academic libraries. His research interests include the application of geographic information systems in a variety of settings.

Jeff Naidoo will join the UK SLIS faculty January 2011 as an Assistant Professor. He has a Ph.D. in Communication and Information Science from the University of Alabama. Jeff also earned an M.B.A from TU (summa cum laude) and a B.S. in Business and Information Technology from the University of South Africa. He has experience in international technology development and deployment. His research interests are focused in the area of knowledge management.

A new article by Donald Case "A Framework for Information Policies...", is in the 2010 Annual Volume of the peer-reviewed journal Library Philosophy and Practice.
